It’s been so long since there was a new Goldfrapp album out… “Felt Mountain” is clearly one of my favorite albums ever. I enjoyed Goldfrapp’s followups “Black Cherry” and “Supernature” slightly less than their first album, but they’re still full of great music.

But it’s been two years!

Okay, maybe two years isn’t such an awful wait between albums.

Happily, the wait is over. Goldfrapp’s new album “Seventh Tree” is out on February 26th, and the first single from it, “A&E”, is available now (in fact, it was released on the day before my birthday, which was a very nice treat for me).

The new single, and the previews that I’ve heard of the album, sound a lot smoother and less dancy than their last two albums. Less jangly, less Strict Machine/Slip It In/sex-with-guys-who-have-dog-heads. Which is hopefully good, because I’m not sure that was a limb they should have gone much further out on.
