TP on the QT

Amazon really started selling “groceries” online… of course you’re not order broccoli from them; most of what they’re selling is dry goods or household stuff. A lot ends up being overpriced, but sometimes they have quite good prices. We use Seventh Generation recycled toilet paper in our bathrooms, and I noticed that Amazon is selling it at an excellent price - just under $39, with free shipping, for 48 500-sheet rolls of 2-ply.

Plus, if you buy $49 or more of groceries, you can save an extra $10 at checkout using the GROCERY2 promotional code. Even without the discount, $39 for a case of this toilet paper is substantially cheaper than Gaiam offers it. I’m not sure yet if you can use GROCERY2 more than once.

If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s a half-hour drama/comedy starring Mary Louise Parker as a recently widowed suburban mom who turns to selling pot for a living. The concept is similar to the British film Saving Grace, about a widow who finds her husband left her deeply in debt.

Apple’s Developer’s conference (WWDC) starts today, and as always there’s been a great deal of anticipation of the keynote speech where Steve Jobs was expected to announce new hardware, features of the next version of MacOS X, and other goodies.

This keynote was a little different… as we’re most of the way through Apple’s transition to Intel processors, there were a lot of certainties about the announcements - that Apple would announce a PowerMac successor, that it would be named “Mac Pro”… just the details were uncertain.
