This ridiculous, absurd albums is one of my favorites, as I’m sure that anyone I’ve subjected to Steve and Edie’s cover of “Black Hole Sun” can attest to. The album is a mix of alternative-ish covers of classic lounge songs with lounge-y covers of alternative and rock songs. Overall the album is a bit hit or miss, but the standouts stand out so much that it’s well worth buying the album. Buy it for “Black Hole Sun, a stunning denouement for the song; enjoy Pizzicato Five’s great cover of “The Girl from Ipanema” and Ben Folds Five’s cover of The Flaming Lips’ “She Don’t Use Jelly”.
